Associate Professor of Biology Emily Wiley gave an invited talk in Chania, Greece (on Crete), at the "Ciliate Molecular Biology" conference sponsored by FASEB (Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology) held July 10-15, 2011. The talk was titled: "Sirtuins promote programmed nuclear degradation in Tetrahymena". Dr. Wiley organized the Undergraduate Research Symposium held as part of this conference and co-chaired the teaching education workshop titled "Ciliates in the Classroom" as part of this above conference. In addition, she presented her undergraduate genomics research initiative called "Ciliate Genomics Consortium" in the education workshop.
