Assistant Professor of Biology Bryan Thines is one of 26 scientists selected to participate in the Department of Energy Joint Genome Institute's (DOE JGI) Undergraduate Research Program in Microbial Genome Annotation. The program considers applicants from a full range of undergraduate institutions who incorporate bioinformatics into their curriculum. According to Dr. Cherly Kerfeld, Head, Structural Genomics and Education Programs, DOE JGI, Professor Thines has been selected because his "approach has the potential to contribute to the national model for undergraduate research that we are collectively developing." |
