Chelating-ferrocene ligands support a wide range of metal centers. Based on reactivity studies of group 3 alkyl complexes with aromatic N-heterocycles, we propose that this class of ligands can be classified as “privileged” pincer ligands from an electronic and geometric point of view. Unique reactivity behavior for the ferrocene-based complexes is also possible. The interpretation of the observed reaction outcomes will be aided by DFT studies. |
